9/16/2018
When I was in NC I was juried into the NC Specialty Foods Assoc.. for membership. The Go Texan program is like that for Texas businesses. Happy to report I applied for membership and got my acceptance information last week. YEAH!!!
Lets see where all this leads!

Posting as Providence Preserves is a struggle for me... sometimes

9/15/2018
People who know me well know that I struggle with technology in general and posting comments on the Providence Preserves website specifically. I've gotten better but there is a lot of room for improvement. So tell me why if you look at Providence Corner on my website you do not see August dates under Archives? Although I posted 5 times in August, nothing shows up? Hmmm, I think I need to talk to Jack the webmaster.

Bad weather prevented the vendors from working at the market this past Sat. because the park was saturated , Providence Preserves will  miss this upcoming weekend and return on 9/22.
The "September Special" will still be in effect - Buy any three pint or half pint jars & get one 4oz jar free.
We are looking forward to seeing you on the 22nd.

Picture on the Blog

Someone asked me what was the picture on the Providence Preserves blog page of the website  called Providence Corner. It is a picture of a peach tree in my backyard in Elizabeth City NC. The tree is growing crooked because I did not plant it correctly. So, I called it the "Leaning Tower of Peaches". I miss sitting in that backyard and looking at the fruit trees growing there-pear, peach, fig, apple and a blueberry bush. I hope the current owners love that house & backyard as much as I did (and still do)...

Back at the Market

9/2/2018
We returned to the Farmers Branch Farm Market yesterday. There was a large turnout because of the "Beatles Band" that played. I found myself singing many of the songs because I remembered them from my pre-teen years. We met new customers and had a few repeat ones. Want to especially thank the repeat customer who sent his father to buy some product AND he also returned an empty jar of ours to recycle!
The Labor Day special, "Buy 3 any Size & get one 4oz FREE" worked! About 10 people took us up on that offer.! Got to work on a new selling strategy for this wknd.
ps
Things I 4got to do at the market this past wknd:
Take pics/video
Ask people to Like my FB page
Give serving suggestion cards for some of the products
This is what can happen when you have not done a show in a while...Oh well, We'll try to do better this wknd.
LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES & DO BETTER THE NEXT TIME

    Greetings

I believe there is something very special about making
preserves. Although it seems labor intense to some people it is pure joy for me! It's almost therapeutic. I love to stand and stir a boiling pot containing fresh fruit. The scent is tantalizing! But, better than cooking the product  is seeing the end result of filled jars with delicious goodness. I hope you will enjoy eating the jams and pickles as much as I enjoy making them.
    O taste and see.....
