Who said you couldn't eat fruits and vegetables at the same time? You can now! Try out Tomato Pear Chutney on goat cheese & a bagette OR on baked or grilled meats OR on white fish OR mix some with rice for added flavor. You won't be disappointed.
INGREDIENTS: tomatoes, pears (of course), onion, raisins, bell pepper and lots of spices! Forgot to mention, it does have a kick!
So you say you're a true Southerner but you've never heard of Watermelon Rind Pickles or Squash Pickles or Bread & Butter Pickles or Cinnamon Cucumber Rings??? Mom, grandma, auntie or some of the sweet little old ladies at the church would make them every summer. Your job as a kid would have been to help gather the fruits or veggies and wash them. Then, the (sweet little old) ladies did the rest of the work.

After several visits to the commercial kitchen, we're back at making preserves. So far, we've made Strawberry Jam, Berry-Peachy Jam, Mild & Hot Chow-Chow, Dilly Beans, Tomato Pear Chutney, Squash Pickles and Watermelon Rind Pickles. You can find many of these products at The Market store on Houston Street in Cedar Hill. You can also find our jams with the From the Dirt Farm at Dallas Farmers Market. We will still be selling directly to you at various events and markets throughout the season.
