Its a Different World
6/11/2020
We're not referring to the old 1990's tv show; we are referring to life in 2020. Its a different world right now for black and brown people. Its a different world for small businesses and especially minority-owned small businesses. It feels over whelming and we're left wondering when will it all end? A vivid analogy would be: if some big businesses and the well-to-do are weary due to a head cold; then the other extreme is many small and minority-owned businesses are bed-ridden with a bad case of double pneumonia! That's how distinct it is
2020 began with the spread of a pandemic that led to sicknesses, deaths, unemployment and many other life-changing situations. The tragic recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and Rayshard Brooks , have all contributed to the hurt and unrest we feel in our communities, across the nation, and around the world. None of us know how long we might be in this pandemic. We can only hope as the temperature rises during the warm summer months, COVID-19 outbreaks and racially-motivated violence and unjust treatment will cease. |
