Remember earlier this month I blogged about entering my Chow-Chow in the Texas State Fair Creative Arts Contest?
Well it won First Place!!! Just got the confirmation letter today. I am too excited! No money comes with this recognition but, my name & recipe will be included in next year's cookbook. Once again Cousin Z from Camden NC was right! Product on hand

Texas State Fair Entry
8/6/2018
sThis weekend, we will enter our Chow-Chow recipe for the Texas State Fair. Last year the Watermelon Rind Pickles won 2nd Place. Personally, I think the Chow-Chow is amazing but; will the judges think that? The recipe has been taste-tested at various farmers market. We are submitting the recipe that got the most votes. We will see how this goes this time.
The first person to acknowledge this post via online or by phone will receive a free half-pint jar of either Hot or Mild Chow-Chow. Complimentary shipping & handling (if needed). LESSON LEARNED: EVERY NOW AND THEN, PEOPLE LIKE RECEIVING QUALITY FREEBIES I KNOW I DO! We will be taking lots of jars to Farmers Branch tomorrow. Including Plum Jam & Tomato Pear Chutney. My goal is to sale half of the jars we take. We will be taking 52 jars. I promise to be honest & tell you how many we actually sell. Knowing the accountability involved here will make us work twice as hard. Daughter may join us for a little while to help with sales. Until tomorrow... Its tomorrow, Sunday, 8/5/18. We sold 20 jars. LESSON LEARNED: ITS BETTER TO MAKE SOME PROGRESS THAN NONE AT ALL. |
